This is the prayer counter I have designed for my own use. It is made using black and natural wood beads plus faceted yellow beads with semi precious stone chips of garnet, tigereye, amethyst and turquoise as spacers for the circle.
The tail comprises silver plated star with semi precious blue cabochen two hemetite beads, one white wood bead, tigereye or goldstone bead, carnelian bead, lapis bead, amethyst bead - all spaced using stone chips, followed by large wood bead, silver plated celtic symbol, and bell.
All are strung simply on clear fishing line which is very strong and doesn't require threading by use of needle.
The elements of the prayer counter and the materials I use are my attempt to echo something of the four elements and to create a tool that encourages me to honour, concentrate and commit to an ongoing spiritual journey whose intent and focus is beyond the known or imagined, beyond word or action but finds me endeavouring to live by word and action as expression of the never to be fully understood and the barely glimpsed. The 'Pilgrim Beads' as I have named my prayer counter is just one of the tools that helps me on my progress as spiritual pilgrim.
