Four on Friday (15)

Img_0524

A moment in my garden when awareness of spring arriving and filling up the senses with light. I have two of these shrubs in my garden and both beckon as beacon towards the longer days of light and the promise of the multitude of blooms and buds to come through the rest of spring and summer. In the brightness of a memorably warm clear blue sky day these small vibrant flowers caught my eye on a Friday afternoon and I was glad. It's a quince if you were wondering.

Four on Friday (14)

Riverwaiting_30th_march

The rain stopped, the sky cleared, the wind did not drop and myself plus RnB walked along the river path. At four I found myself discovering a waiting room :0) Goodness knows who or how these skeleton chairs arrived at this place. Would be fun to have 'someone' just prising them apart for the all important meeting between stone river and tree. I loved the echo of autumn in their rust guilded shape and the space for spring to begin to capture and transform the scene in and around them. I'll go back and check if a table has arrived or the empty sign has been pinned up again in the next week or so.

Four on Friday

23rd_march

This small project has continued even though it was not until today that I have managed to put each photo in to the album. Still have to add captions but seeing the group together made me realise that my world is truly full of colour and light and love so though the boundary lines of this world are drawn closer and closer to my cottage door the expansive nature of what I find before my eyes can do no other but thrill heart and mind and fuel imagination.

Strange to get excited about a project that I've set myself but seeing 52 images on the last Friday in December seems a goal if met to make me smile hugely and discover more than I guessed when I decided to take a photo each Friday for a year.

Transforming the years photo's into something other than an album on my blog will be considered in December, maybe a montage of them all for a 2008 calender cover!

Anyway, the photo above was taken whilst I sat on the deck of my mini-summerhouse shed in some surprising afternoon sunshine as Rhys and Banon (absent in this shot) sniffed the breeze and chased each other delightedly.

Four on Friday (3)

Another picture added to the album, here's what I wrote - "The road heading up the valley on a journey back from Swansea. Raining, high winds and low cloud coming down quickly...afternoon in Wales in January:0)"

To say it's been raining here really does not get near the deluge of the past few days, more of that in the days to come, including picture update of progress in the garden. Oh yes this is the woman who finally could stand it no longer that the round bed destined to become veggie plot this year was completely surrounded by a mud and water moat and so donned her fluorescent yellow waterproof jacket and trousers plus sturdy wellington boots - cut down to suit my less that long legs so they look more like rubber cowboy boots, they make me laugh too:0) and went forth to slide in to and through the mud much to the delight of two dogs who also slid in and out of the mud both on feet and on backs! Digging is not really the word to use, slurping maybe but whatever mud, water and wellies slid around 'delightfully' and is still being captured and coralled as best as I can manage. By the end of the weekend I hope to see a path around the bed which will mean no more mud up to ankles and higher when I wander around in the morning feeding the birds and will withstand the thirty mile an hour race game of Rhys and Banon.

The round bed itself has a ways to go yet beore it is anywhere near ready for seeds and plants but more of that in the next post.

Today's Addition

Someone asked why I had not actually put the photo in the post for last weeks begining of the Four on Friday 'project' and to be honest it never occurred to me but from this week on I will put photo here and in the album each week as I know an album may take a long time to view.

This is the caption I have put in the album - "Water and ferns are in abundance at the moment and out walking at four this is what I found myself looking at."

Four on Friday

Each Friday of 2007 I intend to snap what is before my eyes at four oclock. I am not actually saying A.M or P.M. as I want to keep it open for myself, though I think it'll be more often 4pm but if it is both that will be fine.

The idea came from PM on BBC Radio 4 which did something similar in December 2006 when it asked listeners to take a snap at 5pm, the start time of the programme, as a window on their world. Nothing staged just wherever and whatever was before them at 5pm. It is facinating to look at the thousands of photos taken and in some way touching as so many of the snaps are of very ordinary mundane activities but are powerful because of this not inspite of this. Go HERE to view the photos taken by thousands of people on one day in December.

I wonder what patterns and constants will show up over the 52 weeks in my world. It would be fun to have Three on Thursday, Six on Saturday and Seven on Sunday too but I would almost certainly forget. But maye there will be others that take up a slot........

Picture Saturday never really got off the ground here mainly because too often thoughts even those that are just images do not follow straight or clear lines save to my mind. Then there is the small fact that my world can shrink to even smaller dimensions with less opportunity for series of photo's with little or no warning but the creative urge still bubbles up so midst the need for disinfectant and mop buckets etc I keep exploring and so a new photo album has appeared in the left hand sidebar and will be added to each Friday.
